Another idea proposed in ICQ is "Salty Cracker" with similar logo
PS. In this case I would have to support salts

but we're trying to find out what each hash is made of. collissions might be interesting too, even though very unlikely because of the restricted keyspace.

edit: and perhaps the guys from CERN would like to join us with their supercomputer from the atlas detector...

LHC is in use by elcomsoft...

How about:

1. THR (Tachyon Hash Recovery)
2. HHB (Hyper Hash Breaker)
3. XBF (Xtreme Brute Forcer)
4. GAHRU (GPU Accelerated Hash Recovery Utility)
5. iDaC (Intelligent Distributed Accelerated Cracker)
6. UDRC (Ultra Distributred Recovery Client)

I can think of many, many more but take these few rudimentary examples and see if you can formulate something better and more fitting to the utility. Hope this helps on some strange level.. :ugeek:

Damn, there are too many md5 crackers released :-) Not enough non-occupied names :-)

We would have a poll a bit later, so you have like 1 week for any more ideas :=)

Too bad, elcomsoft wastes the arconym for 'lightning hash bla bla'

I like
1. THR (Tachyon Hash Recovery)

or perhaps CA (Cryptocraphic Alliance)

arconyms are great

Gac is nice but pipca ?! we're not doing the pi. i think we should chose a name which describes what we're doing because otherwise people will expect wrong things from our project

I have 2.5 suggestions:
1.) CuCu (CUDA Crunch)
2.a.) yafhc (yet a faster hash cracker)
2.a.) yafhc (yet another fast hack cracker)

Another good idea would be "LHC", but there was already somebody else here on the board who has come up with that suggestions... :)

We cannot have name CUDA-related, as it will support AMD thing & CPU only.

I proposed "salty cracker" because of 4 reasons:

1) funny name (2 meanings, like john the ripper)
2) a name you can keep in mind really easy
3) gpu cracking is made for salted hashes, unsalted hashes can be bruted by rainbow tables.
4) a logo is already made. Copyright to BarsMonster. ( he made a real huge image)
I need to do some more color and contrast corrections.
