Re: 9+ GPU machine

Uh.. Point of fact... If by 'blank screen' you mean the windows blue background.. Then it *has* booted.. Haha, yea this is between windows XP logo that has the scrolling blue bar and the actual password logon screen. The screen is black, and the monitor light is green, that means that it is getting...

Re: 9+ GPU machine

Could you try --gpu_time=1500 and larger charset (aA0~) Gave it a try, the screen refresh is slower, but speeds are about the same. GPU-Z says that all cards are running @ 16x except for the 8800 GTX is running at 4X. Which I think is weird cause it is suppose to go to 8X for that slot and the next...

Re: 9+ GPU machine

Well apparently I was having a power issue, I used alternate power source for the extra card. Now it is using the full use of the 8800GTX :). On bars I had to use --cpu_n 6 in order for it to be stable enough for it to keep the GPU's fully tasked. IGhash is actually slower now that they are all work...

Re: 9+ GPU machine

3 out of 8 GTX295 cores running non optimally and that can be caused by some hardware conflicts. Bars's result for 9xGPU also lower than it should be for 8x. You are correct. I didn't have a chance to look into it to much at the time. With only 8 GPU's I normally get over 6B/sec with bars, however ...

9+ GPU machine

I thought I would create a new thread instead of posting in the 'how high can you get thread'. I have been working on making a +9 GPU machine. I was waiting on a PCI-e extension cable to test this out. It finally arrived today and I popped in the 9th card. I had been getting conflicting comments tha...

you would appreciate being able to crack hashes twice faster (with) ATI Yes I would and if you, Ivan, or anyone else wants to make a program that will support the hashing algorithms I need then I would switch, I'm not a fanboy by any means. I might decide to give you a little competition to Hash Cr...

Re: How high can you get

Well it looks like someone removed all 300 series specs from the GeForce comparison wiki, thats where I got the clocks from. If indeed the clock is only running at 1230Mhz that seems rather low for the 40nm fab. However going from 6B/sec to nearly 11B/sec is nothing to shake a stick at. The Geforce ...

This is the one that I ordered - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170386683283 I already have the riser card. I was notified that it was shipped on the 17th, tomorrow will be two weeks. I expect it here with...

Re: GPU overclocking to increase hash/sec

So, at that rate I'd need around 780 MHz core to reach 1 bil/second. According to those estimations you would need a 37% overclock to 788Mhz core speed to achieve a 1 B/sec speed, minus whatever your CPU can do. A 37% increase seems kinda high, but a quick search around I see that people have got a...

Re: GPU overclocking to increase hash/sec

Ahh sorry this was for Nvidia only, for Ati it is:

This really only applies to the 4800 series:
Stream processors * clock / 398 - ~21% = Million hashes per second.
So for the 4830:
640 * 575 = 368000 / 398 = 924.623 - 21% = 730.45 M/sec

Re: GPU overclocking to increase hash/sec

Approximation is, shader freq * SP / 398 - ~5% = Hashes per second.

Example GTX 285: 1476 * 240 = 354240 / 398 = 890.05 - 5% = 846 Million hashes /sec

Re: How high can you get

What about Tetra cards then?.. LordMike I'm not sure if you meant to imply this or not, but you may be on to something! Nvidia Tesla cards may not be considered video adapters, they don't even have a video cable port. If that is the case you may be able to have a machine with 4 GTX 295s and 3 Tesla...

The NVidia workhorse things... Dunno if I got the name right.
LordMike are you talking about the Tesla cards? GeForce cards are faster and have more stream processors well at least the 295s do, and are about 1/4th the price.

I dunno if CUDA has any specific GPU limitation.

I know for a fact Windows will not boot if there are more than 8 active GPUs.
Guess I'll find out in a week.

Re: How high can you get

You might want to try to get some guaranted CPU clocks for GPU part via --cpu_n 7 CPU doesn't have to work overtime managing GPU's (Become a bottleneck). You guys are right, i have tried --cpu_n 7, I wil usually get about 43M/sec per core if I do that. But the +3 on each core doesn't make up for th...

Well I've let it sit there for a while and it won't do anything else. The cpu load is all nominal even on the ones that have numbers. I usually have to kill it or sometimes it will respond to Esc, then it will say stopping threads then not do anything again. I finally installed 64bit, so this is the...

Re: New codebase testing 0.B version

I've noticed that this version will freeze sometime when you first start it. A couple of CPU's will show numbers then it will just say 100%. But I have noticed that it is a bit faster than the other versions.

I just got in to the 6 B's
