Re: GPU overclocking to increase hash/sec

Is there no way to "define" generations ?Ofc The way I understand it is that speed of calculations is strictly based off your (clock speed * shader count). If you had a 8800 GTX and over clocked it from 1350 to 1688(9800GTX) you theoretically would be able to do the same amount of integer calculati...

I made a estimated hash calculator using excel. Thought someone may find it useful.

Re: GPU overclocking to increase hash/sec

I would imagine something that you cound run and it would initially just use a counter from say 1-50k, the counter would create an MD5 for each count and hold it in memory. Then it would just loop through the counter again and again verifying if the the output matched what was in memory. error = fal...

Re: GPU overclocking to increase hash/sec

Well, who said that manufacturer's voltage is best for you? Good point I never thought of it that way. But this is where a "selftest" option could come in handy. Would be useful for both overclocking and under volting :) *Edit* Was doing some reading else where and found this: To test for max shade...

Re: GPU overclocking to increase hash/sec

So my guess is that even a stock speed card could produce errors if it where defective or running hot. Conversly a properly running overclocked and cool card could run faster without producing any errors. It would be nice if there were a program to stress the cores with known computational output an...

GPU overclocking to increase hash/sec

As many of you know overclocking the shader clock on the GPU can increase the effective hash cracking speed of that GPU. But can overclocking negatively impact finding a key? For example could a overclock produce errors that would cause a computed MD5 to return the wrong result? I have been overcloc...

Re: New codebase testing 0.B version

I've already linked somewhere here quote from nVidia's guy about systems with >8 GPUs - Perhaps this is why I thought you mentioned 8 GPU as a max. The motherboard I picked up is the asus P6T7 WS supercomputer - http://promos.asus.com/US/Newsletter2009/OAP_Jun09/Story/P6T7.html it has X58 / ICH10R ...

Re: New codebase testing 0.B version

BarsMonster, what is the max supported amount of GPUs for BarsWF? I just order a new motherboard and it should allow me to use more than 8GPU's. I heard that there is a driver limit of 8 but I don't know anyone that has had more than 8 in a single motherboard to test that out. Also I've heard IvanG'...

Re: New codebase testing 0.B version

Well, you might need to wait a little, it calculates averages among some
Yea I usually wait a bit as well, tends to get a little faster as it goes..

By the way finally broke into the 5's

There are some examples on this page - http://golubev.com/files/ighashgpu/readme.htm

Also when selecting the mask it always has to start with -m:???? because you can't specify the first four characters.

Re: New codebase testing 0.B version

How much did you have to pay for all that shit o_O
and how much power does it need while working?
For this box alone not sure, $400 for each 295 X 3, $160 for the 9600GT, the LS-1200 PSU was $230, orginal system, motherboard, cpu etc was $2000, not including monitor and stuff.

Re: This is unbelivable...

So the only copy you had of main.cpp was on the SDD you had? If it was a magnetic drive I might have some suggestions but not SDD. The thing about SDDs is that it is suppose to have leveling software. When it detects that a sector is going bad it is suppose to mark it bad and move those bytes somewh...

Re: Multi Vender GPU rendering

I keep going back and forth with this in my head. I already have two systems filled with 295GTXs, and for the most part one of them sits and does nothing, while the other is always busy. It just boils down to the fact that EDPR(elcomsoft distributed password recovery) is pretty much the only distrib...

Re: New codebase testing 0.B version

Well, you have placed cudart.dll to the BarsWF directory or what? This shouldn't be needed, cudart is linked statically. Meanwhile, not sure what changed, this function was used in 0.A version too. Do you have pretty recent display driver? Yea cudart was in the same directory, it was there from pre...

This is using the same cudart.dll that i used for the other version.

I know I posted in the other post I had but do you plan to release a 32 bit version? I'm currently stuck with XP 32 because vista 64 only supports 5 cards.

Re: Distributed crypo-network discussion

Actually was just thinking about this. Seems like it is going to be a major draw back that you won't be able to add hashes in once it is started. Who would want to wait weeks to have their hashes cracked? I understand the reason why it is not really possible because everyone is going to get the same...

I'd go nuts too and quit if I managed 7 teams of billions of chinese people screaming "0" and "1".

Also I thought I would mention that it does the same thing if I use a 9400 GT in place of the 9600 GT
