Is it going to be up in days? weeks? months? year? Just curious,
Thanks
Mmm... soon

Might be today, might be next year

Is that from the distributed cracker, where it downloads a chunk to work on?..

Got first results on a production hash list (460k).
SSE2 speed is ~33-45% of single hash speed on this task. I believe this is not that bad provided that hash list in binary form does not fit in L2 cache on my CPU

Guys with 0.5 and 1Mb of L2 cache would have serious problems running this task

lol.. uh..
Can you detect the cache?..
Perhaps fit the list to the cache size?

Smaller structures will deliver lower speed anyway.

This might seem like kind of a ridiculous question, but is there any kind of estimate for how many hash/second Salty will be able to do when it is up and running?
I'm pretty excited about this by the way, wish the client would get released : )

Well, for the 0.5 million hashes list, you may think 30-40% of single hash BarsWF speed multiplied by a number of clients we'll get.
I'll run 5 clients in my home

6B * 0,3 = 1,8B * 500.000 = 900.000B effective rate.
EDIT: Decimals.

900B/sec would be beautiful, but I think 6B per client and 500 clients is a little optimistic

He is saying different thing, it's gonna check 900.000 billions of hash-password pairs per second on 1 node

You should use T as in trillion instead or write like 900.000,0B because it's hard to tell the difference between that and 900,000B.
So that's 900T/sec.

Yea, sorry on that
It seems I shift a little on whether I use decimal or point. Even in the same sentence o.0..

Got first results on GPU multihash.
Speed drop is much lower, I am getting ~76% of single hash speed.

bars, how much cache is on your cpu?
cause i 'only' dropped to like 70-75% with multihash support (125M) on sse2 md5. Of course i started out with a somewhat lower single hash speed (175M), but still
p.s. i have 3MB L2 cache.

I have 6Mb. Yes, fall is too deep, should be some problem with my code...
175M on SSE2 single hash? which CPU, which bruteforcer?

oh btw, i have 3MB per core, so it's 12MB... you probably have the same, but dual core?
i have a Q9450, running it at 3.2 GHz. For you information: I get like 200-210 Mhashes/s with BarsWF.
brute forcer:
http://blog.distracted.nl/2009/10/emdeb ... ihash.html (this version actually has a couple of bugs, but it finds hashes on windows

)
i explain most of the stuff i use here:
http://blog.distracted.nl/2009/09/multi ... pport.html
partial reversing still gained some speed over full md5... most speed is probably in the use of bitmaps for initial hash comparison, i used bitweasils implementation and optimized it.
