You should perhaps ask such questions also at nvnews.net, which is some kind of inofficial NVIDIA forum, but where some guys who work at NVIDIA are reading (and answering) nonetheless. I guess you can be pretty sure that if this is a driver bug (which wouldn't be amazing), they are not gonna admit this on their official forum.
I have to admit though that I do not have any experience with SLI or using multiple graphic cards at the same time in one machine...

you could try to limit the processing to one GPU, via cmd switch...

I've got a similar problem.. I just installed a 9600GT 512 in place of one of my pair of 8600GTs, XP sees both of them and games run well on the new card, I'm using the very latest drivers. BarsWF worked fine on the old cards but now I get this: :(

@B0ff:

I'm not sure, but have you tried to remove the SLI brigde?

I've tried it with the bridge and without it, the result is the same either way.

EDIT

It's something to do with the 8600GT, when I remove it the program runs fine:

I found the answer in Programming_Guide_2.0beta2.pdf in section 3.2 Multiple Devices.
The use of multiple GPUs as CUDA devices by an application running on a multi-GPU system is only guaranteed to work if theses GPUs are of the same type.
So having a 8800GT and a 8400GS in the same computer is not guaranteed to work and apparently doesn't. My guess is that it is the ram: the 8800GT has GDDR3 and the 8400GS has DDR2. It could also be an incompatibility of G92 and G86, but G92 and G80 work together so it looks like a stretch to say it's G92 and G86.

We might be able to figure out what makes it not work if everyone with two or more different cards were to list the cards and weather it worked or not. You can find out all the info about the cards here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... e_8_series.

Well, yes, that is known fact that CUDA is not guaranteed to work on GPUs on different types, but in practice it does.
Guys, can you try other MD5 crackers which supports multiple GPUs? I wonder if they would work in that hybrid config :-S

can you give me some names or links for other md5-multi-gpu-crackers?

Do not know for sure, but

are worth trying

hm, havent tested them yet, but cant you add a function, that allow me to disable the second gpu?
just like hat

--use-gpu X

or

--disable-gpu X

that would be the solution, cause the ~30m/s keys from the 8400GS can be dropped ;)

why splitting this "problemsolvingthread" to a "wishlistthread"... that makes no sense, cause this is just for testingpurpose only!

Yes, this function would be added in finally last 0.85 version. But we would need testing results anyway.

extreme gpu bruteforce runns without any problems at 290/ms, but i dont know, if it uses also the 8400GS

edit: but deviceinfo recognizeses both graphiccards, ...

Yes, BarsWF uses the same function to "see" the second card and detect it's parameters, so I am not surprised :-)
Can you detach 8400 and check if speed decreased?

hm, detaching is a little tricky, but it should be okay just disabling the 8400gs, right?

Just discovered that EGB would support multiple GPU in next version only.
