Has anyone of you experience in programming FPGA. I know that there are some cryptographic solutions to it and I recently
read this nice article about cheap nano FPGA: http://www.digitimes.com/photogallery/S ... sp?ID=3390

I wonder how many MD5/s they can do....

i think those small ones wont have to much power.
a normal fpga cluster is quite effectiv from what i've heard. (wpa_psk-h1kari_renderman)

Well, I did FPGA cracker for RC5 like 7 years ago :-)

http://nsa.unaligned.org/ Here is working thing, performance 3.2 bil hashes / sec.
I bet their system if far more expensive than 4x9800GX2 which shows the same speed.

Here's how it looks (i mean NSA thing, not mine):

Can you post a picture of your own?

8 years ago we were unable to fit it into FPGAs we had (cause they had like 20 times less logic elements than needed), so it was never actually worked in hardware, just in computer simulation of electronic scheme.

Well, that's a pity. Would have been a geat addition to this project if every use had a self made fpga based computer :P

If you're going to look at FPGA acceleration, talk to these guys:
http://www.picocomputing.com/

FPGA coding is IMO about an order of magnitude harder than GPU coding, though - especially for complex systems.

Not sure about that :-)
My cracker was able to check 1 key per clock. Which means like 300MHash/sec these times, and like 1500 Mhash/sec nowadays. That is not that much in comparison to 200$ GPUs :-)

But it would be so nice to have a nano fpga that could check one hash per second (prob. more) and fit in my hand

rofl :-) How about GTX280 in your head? You may not to wear fur cap with ears at winter

so let's add bio-electrical interface to the feature wishlist...

Well, you can always have military-grade plutonium-238 reactor inside your brain (alpha particles only, no radiation, so your brain would not mutate ), this would supply GTX280 with power well beyond your life span :-)

alpha radio out of your body = no problem
alpha radio in your body = certain dead!

Well, of course there is a reactor case for that. Even sheet of paper can stop alpha radio :-)
I am still laughing about British propoganda that KGP(sorry, now it is called FSB) poisoned Litvinenko using Polonium :-)
