speed of BarsWF / other
Is there any benchmark teble to see the average speed of CPUs and GPUs in BarsWF? I would like to know, how faster it can be on another PC. If not, I have C2D e6600 at 2,4 and 8800GTS 640MB, and the average speed is about 330M/s (60M/s CPU and 270M/s GPU), is that speed OK?
And btw, is there any faster program for brute like BarsWF? :)

Faster for what? Multihash, singlehash, salted? Distributed, single computer? Which algorithm? sha1? mysql5? mssql? mysql232? md5? md4? ntlm? DES? On which architecture. Ati? Nvidia? Amd cpus? intel cpus? On which operating system, vista, xp, linux? What about handheld devices?

For nVidia cards, as far as I am aware there is no program faster than BARS.exoomer wrote: And btw, is there any faster program for brute like BarsWF?
For ATI cards, I gather that IGHASHGPU is 5-10% faster. But you're using nVidia, so I'd just stick with BARS.

Re: speed of BarsWF / other
Correct.There is no publicly known program for cracking single MD5 hashes faster than it at the moment.Crucifix wrote:For nVidia cards, as far as I am aware there is no program faster than BARS.

Yep. I'm sure the NSA has something faster, but they're keeping it under wrapsRolf wrote:Correct.There is no publicly known program for cracking single MD5 hashes faster than it at the moment.Crucifix wrote:For nVidia cards, as far as I am aware there is no program faster than BARS.

Re: speed of BarsWF / other
I did some testing again recently of several of the top MD5 hash crackers and BarsWF pretty much holds the lead. Mainly because it is using both the CPUs and the GPUs. IGhasheGPU v0.70 seems to be faster compared to BarsWF when comparing GPU only in both CUDA and ATi.
IGhashGPU v0.70tv = 408M
cputdontcare = 312M
BarsWF_32 v0.8 = 396.88
with CPU = 460
IGhashGPU v0.61 = 390M
cpudontcare = 300M
EGB = 304.80M
EDPRS v2.71 = 251.6M
RPISEC 64 = 149.15M
This test machine was a single 8800 GTX with core 2 duo 6600.
I will be doing further testing using several other cards and including the application from vampyr.

Re: speed of BarsWF / other
So on my PC (description), the speed is the same, as BarsWF 0.8 :)
And btw, can I ask for what does the parameters "Grid count for nVidia" and "Thread count for nVidia" ?

Re: speed of BarsWF / other
There parameters might influence cUDA speed, but it's rather hard to explain how to find optimal values. BarsWF tries really hard to find optimal values.exoomer wrote:So on my PC (description), the speed is the same, as BarsWF 0.8

Usually they both are multiplies of 32.
